The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) has contributed 50,000 doses of anthrax vaccines to aid the Lagos State Government's fight against the disease. FMARD, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, initiated a three-day awareness campaign at the state Ministry of Agriculture to curb the disease's spread. During this effort, a delegation visited the Permanent Secretary and the Cattle Market Abattoir in Oko-Oba Agege. Dr. Ernest Umakhihe, representing the Permanent Secretary of FMARD, emphasized that the awareness drive and vaccine donation are integral to the ministry's strategy in controlling the anthrax outbreak. He also noted that the vaccination process has been initiated following discussions with the state's agriculture permanent secretary.
