The meeting, held at LASUBEB’s Multi-Purpose Hall, gathered Headteachers, Teachers, Agricultural Desk Officers, and School-Based Mobilization Committees from 80 participating schools to align on the program’s goals and ensure effective implementation.

The program aims to provide schools with the necessary resources to set up functional school farms, acquire agricultural tools, and incorporate practical farming activities into the curriculum. The funds, provided by UBEC, are designated for these initiatives to enhance hands-on agricultural education for students while promoting sustainability.

The LASUBEB Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Shittu, represented by the Board Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Lamidi, praised UBEC for its support and emphasized the need for accountability in the management of the allocated funds.“This stakeholders’ engagement is crucial to ensure that resources are effectively utilized for agricultural purposes. By doing so, we are empowering pupils with life skills, enhancing food security, and contributing to sustainable development in Lagos State,” he said.

He also emphasised the programme’s goal of integrating agriculture into school activities to equip pupils with practical knowledge in farming and food production, thereby promoting self-reliance and sustainable practices.

In his remarks, Mr. Joshua Arema, a representative of UBEC, praised LASUBEB’s dedication to transparency and accountability. He encouraged the stakeholders to ensure pupils’ active participation in the programme, highlighting its potential to nurture agricultural entrepreneurship skills. “UBEC is committed to supporting initiatives that enhance education and equip students with practical, life-transforming skills,” he added.

The stakeholders discussed strategies for effective implementation, resource management, and monitoring to guarantee the program’s long-term success.
