Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State shared this update during the cheque presentation to beneficiaries in Damaturu. He explained that the fund was designed to foster economic growth, enhance livelihoods, and support sustainable development in communities and farming groups. “This is another significant achievement for the state government, as we provide 101 communities with a Community Revolving Fund (CRF) loan totaling $2,525,000,” he said.
The governor highlighted that out of the 7,340 available slots, 4,825 had been allocated to youths to ensure their active participation and benefits from the program. Umar emphasized that the people of Yobe not only accepted the project but also fully understood and embraced it.
He also credited the success of the project in the state to the dedication, team spirit, and strength of the ACReSAL staff.
Earlier, Alhaji Shehu Mohammed, the ACReSAL Project Coordinator in the state, clarified that the revolving fund was not a grant but an investment loan aimed at revitalizing agricultural practices.
Mohammed mentioned that Yobe was one of eight pilot states selected by the World Bank for the Community Revolving Fund scheme.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Malam Ba-Isa Karasuwa expressed gratitude to Governor Buni for revitalizing the state's agricultural sector and assured that the funds would be used responsibly. He encouraged beneficiaries to take full ownership of the program and repay the loan on time to ensure its sustainability.
ACReSAL National Coordinator, Mr. Abdul Umar, praised the Yobe Government for creating a favorable environment for the project to succeed in the state.
